Bluestockings, New York

Bluestockings is a cafe and bookstore in Lower East Side, New York City. This store features a collection focused largely on feminism, queer studies, and gender studies. I included this bookstore because it is another instance of sober queer spaces. These places aren't as common as they should be and are important to queer youth who aren't able to go to queer bars to meet other people like them. Additionally, sober queer spaces are important to people who don't drink and/or are recovering from addiction or substance abuse. Bluestockings in particular is special because it's a highly accessible space for people of all gender identities, sexualities, and abilities. The store is laid out to be wheelchair accessible which isn't common in New York where space is always utilized in its "most efficient" form. Bluestockings also has a cafe that's known for having vegan and organic options.
