Cuties Cafe inn Los Angeles is a special space and one of not too many in its kind. Specifically, Cuties is a "sober" queer space which serves as an alternative to gay bars. This cafe is owned by couple, Virginia Bauman and Iris Bauman-Houle, who rely on the Patreon they've launched for its crowd-funded donations to stay afloat. Cuties is located in Los Angeles which is already a difficult and expensive place to operate and exist in. But its existence is crucial to the LGBT community in Los Angeles. This is especially because these sober alternatives to gay bars are important to LGBT youth who are underage as well and LGBT people who don't drink or are recovering from addiction and need to stay clean. Additionally Cuties acts as a mini community center because the owners hold events where they give haircuts, give assistance with finding housing, supplying donations of clothing and toiletries. To keep these services and the cafe as a whole going, the crowd funded donations are of crucial importance.
