SAGE Center, New York

SAGE is an organization dedicated to service to the LGBT older adults and the elderly. This is one of the oldest and largest organization in America that is dealing with this. Many older LGBT adults do not always have access to healthcare and housing so SAGE deals with connecting them to the resources they need. The SAGE Center in Midtown is officially named the Edie Windsor SAGE Center after the woman who paved the way to marriage equality since she passed away in September of 2017. It is the first full time LGBT Senior Center in the United States which is crazy considering how elder care is already difficult to access but it's even more of a challenge for LGBT elderly folk. This is a special queer space because it is the first one dedicated to the care of LGBT elders and it has a permanent location in Midtown Manhattan. This is another queer space centered around community outreach and support.
